About Us

Township Maintenance Shed

The Town of Stanton is located in Dunn County of northwestern Wisconsin. It is in the West Central part of the county between the villages of Knapp, Boyceville, and Downing. We are a few miles west of Menomonie, Wisconsin, the county seat. We are near US Interstate 94, approximately one hour east of the Twin Cities of Minnesota and 30 minutes west of Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

Our township is in the gently rolling central plain of Wisconsin, which has fertile and productive soil deposited by the last North American continental glacier, about 10000 years ago. Because of our unique geography and climate, we have many dairy farms in the area and the Red Cedar River and Chippewa River valleys are the dominate features of the local landscape.

Our coldest month of the year is January with an average low temperature of 4°F. Our warmest month is July, with an average temperature of 82°F. June is the wettest month, with an average of 4.52 inches of rain. The highest recorded temperature was 101°F in 1964. The lowest recorded temperature was -40°F in 1996.
